What We've Been Building: A BoutiqueOS Update

Kevin Burke

Boutique Owner & Founder

It's been a few weeks since my last update, and a lot has happened. I wanted to take a few minutes and share what's been going on behind the scenes — what we've built, what's improved, and what's coming next.

If you're a BoutiqueOS customer, some of this will look familiar. If you're evaluating the platform, this is a good look at how we operate: fast, feedback-driven, and always focused on the real problems boutique owners face.

Order Importing: A Lot of Small Wins That Add Up

MyMarketOrders has had a busy few weeks. None of these were flashy, but every one of them came from a real customer running into a real problem.

Faire combined sizes now work correctly. Faire exports some apparel with combined size options like "SM" (Small/Medium) or "ML" (Medium/Large). The importer was treating those as accessories and creating standalone items instead of size grids. That's fixed — apparel with any size format now correctly groups into grids.

Multi-color styles no longer fail on the second color. If you ordered a style in Black and Ivory, the second color was silently failing during import. Each colorway now gets a unique identifier so all colors come through successfully.

Editable color names on the review page. Vendor files love abbreviations. "BLK," "BRO," "NVY." Those codes would flow straight into your POS, your price tags, and your website. Now you can fix them on the review page before anything imports — just click the color chip and type the real name.

Import no longer matches inactive items. If you'd deactivated items from a previous failed or test import, the system could still try to match new orders to those dead items. Now it only matches active items in your POS.

Import history shows partial failures. Previously, an import that mostly succeeded but had a few failures would show as "completed." Now you'll see a clear amber warning if any items failed, so you know exactly what needs attention.

RetailAdvisor: Cleaner Data, Smarter Signals

A few meaningful improvements to the AI inventory intelligence side of the platform:

StoreIQ now shows all five data windows. You can now view 3-month, 6-month, 12-month, 24-month, and All Time data regardless of how long your store has been syncing. Defaults to 12 months for the most actionable view.

"Chase List" renamed to "Selling Fast, Running Low." The old name was fine, but the new one tells you exactly what's happening — and now the section includes a reminder to check your margin column before reordering. A brand moving fast at deep discounts isn't necessarily worth chasing at full wholesale.

Advisor focuses on the last 12 months by default. If your store has years of sales history, brand recommendations were being diluted by old data that may no longer reflect how a brand performs for you today. Now the AI focuses on current performance unless you tell it otherwise.

Customer Outreach: Three Improvements That Matter

ReviewAI, RetargetAI, and FirstDibsAI — the tools that help you reach out to customers based on their purchase history — got a round of refinements:

Brand names now display in proper title case instead of ALL CAPS. RetargetAI no longer implies new inventory arrived when it hasn't — the messaging now focuses on "we miss you" instead of a false promise. And discount offers now clearly state they apply to regularly priced items.

Small things. But the kind of thing a customer notices.

We also bumped ReviewAI and RetargetAI from 5 contacts per batch to 10, so you have more to work with in each session.

New: Klaviyo Setup Guide

If you've been meaning to connect Klaviyo but weren't sure where to start, the full step-by-step guide is now in Help → Guides inside the app. It covers API key setup, flow creation for all three outreach tools, and how to send your first test message.

Coming Soon

Two things in the pipeline I'm genuinely excited about:

ClearanceAI — Set a threshold (say, 120 days on hand) and ClearanceAI automatically flags aging inventory that needs attention. Built with an approval mode so you stay in control of what gets marked down or tagged. If you're connected to Shopify, it can tag items automatically based on your settings.

Receipt Reconciliation — Automatically matches your Heartland receipts to QuickBooks journal entries and catches missing freight charges. If you've ever had to reconcile these manually, you know how tedious it is. We're in pilot testing now.

That's what's been happening. The platform is moving fast, and most of it is driven by conversations with actual store owners running into actual problems.

If something isn't working the way you expect, or you have a feature you wish existed — reply to any email from us or hit the chat inside the app. We read everything.
